3M Scotch Premium Kitchen Scissors

Recently while sourcing for some kitchen utensils I saw these NEW 3M Scotch Kitchen Scissors at one of the FairPrice Xtra hypermarkets. And base on the description from the packaging it seemed that these scissors are made using high quality Stainless Steel and electro-polished blades to resist corrosion as well as for easily cleaned and thus reducing the risk of bacteria growth.

But as you can see the prices of these premium scissors are slightly higher compared to those that we often purchase which is perhaps less than S$8.00. So with such thought I decide to do a survey on facebook (read more HERE) and ask for suggestions and feedback  from those who had bought or current using these scissors.

And  so coincident, just a couple of weeks back I also received these two scissors as sample for selected household homemakers to try out these products.  These Kitchen Scissors comes in two different designs and functions such as - detachable, shown on the left photo above (S$19.90 with GST) and non-detachable (S$15.90 with GST).

As you can see from the above photos, the Scotch Kitchen Scissors is ergonomically designed with a symmetrical shape for comfortable cutting and shearing compared to the rest of the scissors shown. Their soft and comfort handle make it great for those who has bigger palm as well as provide handy grips on the handle for both left and right handed.

For your information these 3M’s Scotch Kitchen Scissors’ used Japan-made JFE SUS420J2 Stainless Steel that is treated using 3M’s unique electro-polishing process for superior smoothness in comparison to generic stainless steel. The metal’s polished coat not only results in a higher tassle and increased hardness, but also enhances the material’s ability to resist corrosion.

From the above photo you can see the comparison result whereby one of the Scotch Kitchen Scissors is put to test together with another 3 different brands of kitchen scissors on 3 weeks daily kitchen chores experiments.  To my surprised, the cutting blades for the Scotch Kitchen Scissors still remains new and shiny compared to the other three pairs with corrosion blades.

The micro-serration blades of these Scotch Kitchen Scissors also add an extra level of sharpness, so the device is strong enough to cut through meat and bones and yet delicate enough to snip fresh herbs and fruits. Furthermore, the detachable blades of the scissor also makes it easy cleaning and quick drying, thus allowing for longer-lasting hygiene and durability.

So I guess it is still quite worth to invest in a pair of durable kitchen scissors whereby it will served multi-purpose from cutting to snipping chores in the kitchen. Example like the photo shown above, you can easily use the Scissors to cut both raw and cooked poultry instead of the old method on using chopper and chopping board.

Changeable Mooncake Moulds

I was so surprised when I received an e-mail from Quinn, owner of Quinn's Baking With Love & Passion that she is getting a set of this changeable mooncake moulds for me. During our chatting and correspondence through msn and email, she knew that I am also keen in getting a set of this since a few years back and she was so kind to order an extra set for us too.

Thanks pal, I have yet to learn and experiment on how to make good use of these mould.

Canon Ixus 95 IS

In the recent Singapore yearly IT Fair which ended last weekends, my brother managed to grab for me this latest design of digital camera from Canon. This camera offers framing flexibility via a 3.0x optical zoom, with consistently blur-free results provided by Canon’s optical Image Stabilizer.

This new Canon IXUS 95 IS also incorporates with a new Smart Auto mode that can analyse the shooting scene in detail - checking subject brightness, contrast, distance and overall hue. The camera then instantly selects one of 18 possible modes, to ensure perfect settings for the scene. I can't wait to test out my new camera for my upcoming recipe photo taking.

Kitchen Gadget

Saw this interesting Steamer Rack from Ikea which come with an extension handler which made it easier to remove from the woke or pan. Another good point of this steamer rack is that it allows you to close the side of the panel and fold into a smaller portion for keeping after use. (update: 26.07.2009)

Saw this BlueSky brand Waffle Maker on sale at Carrefour today for S$16.00. And after hearing and see so many good comments on homemade waffle, I decided to get a set of this to make some waffle for weekend breafast too... :0 (update: 21.03.09)

Upon most reader requested, I have now post a picture of my Philip Oven Toaster which I have used it to do quick bake for most of my Quick and Easy Meal in my post. eg:

3. Lavender-Cointreau Baked Seafood


Mini Bamboo Steamer from Daiso. I bought this little mini Dim Sum style bamboo steamer from Daiso which I use it to steam small bao or steam small portion of steam meal which is more convenient and effective.

This small Gyoza wrapping mould come with a little spoon which enable you to scoop the filing into the mould and wrap. I have yet to try out this mould before I have verify whether is it good and easy to use and the end result of the Gyoza.

Saw the assorted design Metal Stencils from Daiso which can be use on either making fancy design on coffee using cocoa powder or you can also use it on cake or rice to make cute effect.

This is another type of Coffee Stencils. Instead of the above metal design, this packet come in a set of 3 different designs which are made from wood. (update: 01.05.09)

This is one of the kind of those fancy oil paper for absorbing deep-fried stuffs in most of the Japanese serving dish. They do come in different texture, colour and size.

In Daiso, you can find all kind of design and size of cake boxes which you can use it to put cake, muffins, cupcake or etc. It's rather useful and nice if you wan to give away your bakes as gift.

My dear son spot these very cute clips from Daiso, so without thinking of what we can use it for, we just grab it and go....... It's really so cute with those colourful animals attached to the clip. Em.. I am still thinking what can I use them for?
