Easter Gift

This is the best Easter Gift I have received this year. And I have to give credit and thanks to one of my best blog pal Quinn from "Quinn's Baking Diary". Despite of the expensive postage from Australia to Singapore, she is still so willing to send me the April Issue of my favourite "Super Food Ideas" in order for me and Rey to try out some of the Easter recipe in it.

Quinn is so thoughtful that she even take the effort to email a couple of the Easter Recipes in picture format before sending me the book just to make sure that we have enough time to do the Easter recipe. Thank you so much Quinn, I owed you "One" :p And with her help, we are able to try out the "Chocolate Chip Hot Cross Buns" just in time for Easter.

Steam Bun Vs Pancake

Very excited that I finally got hold of this book from the Public Library near my area after seeing those beautiful bakes from one of my favourite blogger "Happy Homebaking" on her " Fun With Steam Bun" post a few weeks back. I have being searching for this book for quiet sometime before I read from her post that it is available at the Library.

Although I got hold of the book but there is something that I would like to bring out and share. I actually reserved this book online and after collect it from the Library and browse through I was rather shocked that almost more than 10 pages of the feature recipes had been torn out from the book. Immediately I bought the book back to the Library and report on the incident and hope to exchange for another copy. It's rather upset to get a book that you want and yet with so many missing pages. I guess the Library should have some system on tracking those books to stop all these kind of nasty act.

Thank God, I am able to exchange for another book which is in good condition that I can get to read on those recipes that I wish to try on. If you love to make steam bun or bakes, this is one of the book that you might be interest with. You can try to find a copy at the Library near you. This book features a lot of different kind of steam bun, like Bao - 包 and Man Tou - 馒头.

Other than the book above, I also grab hold of this "108 Ways of Making Pancake" by a Japanese Author. I have saw this book on sale at Popular Bookstore but since I can get it from the Library I might as well make good use of this facilities.

You will find a lot of simple and easy pancake recipes that is suitable to do together with your kids. Or you can even find some great gift ideas on making those "cute" gift by using pre-packed pancake flour. No matter what you are look for, there is sure something that interest you :)

Baking & Tea-Snack Collection

Browsing through bookstores is always one of my past-time hobby which in the end will make me end up with all kinds of books in my mini library at home. I can resists the temptation of buying clothes, shoes, bag and etc. But I can't resists the temptation of buying books and enjoying food.

Both me and my dear son loves to eat bread, I can have bread for breakfast, tea-break and even lunch. I will packed bread for tea-bread or lunch at least twice a week, so when i saw this interesting toast book, I immediately add it to my shopping cart.

I have two different pancake/waffle books which I purchased due to the "Kawai" presentation of the food. Look at the pancake which they fold into the shape of a fish, isn't that cute? Sometime looking at all these will make my days even more meaningful rather than eating it.

Look at this, I didn't know that we can actually used pancake or waffle flour to make cakes, muffins, cookies and etc other than pancake itself. Although I am not sure of the end products and how they taste compare to the normal ingredients that we used to make cake. But by looking at those photos already makes me adding the book into the shopping carts again :)

This is one of Alex Goh Baking book which consists of a lot of beautiful cakes which I think I can never master it. Because I am not those person that is into cake making but then I still add this book into my collect... *Faint*

Homecook Meal Collection

These are some of the Cookery Books that I had purchased over the past few months. Some of it I have read from the public Library and I find that it is a good keeper as future reference.

Grab at outside one of the NTUC store @ S$9.00 and it consists a lot of wonderful soup that I would like to give it a try when I am free. They have pretty good explanation of the ingredients used too. This book is written by one of the famous TV chef, "FANG TAI".

Other than the above "FANG TAI" soup book, I also grab another one which force more of using Chinese Herbs to neutralise our body health.

Personally I love this book which consists of a lot of attractive photos which is the main consideration for me when purchasing a cookery book. The steps are pretty easy to follow and they have all kinds of dishes with different kind of fish as the main ingredient.

This book come together as the same publisher as the one fish book above. They have interesting western dishes that required short baking time and each dish has their unique taste and presentation.

I have never tried using our normal rice cooker to whip up other dishes other than the Yam & Cabbage Pork Belly Rice which my dad used to make for us when we are young. So when I saw this cookbook, I am very keen and interested to try out those dishes using rice cooker.

Bought this at the Popular book clearance for S$5.00. I love the presentation of the dishes and their nutrition value of the grain rice but then I find it a bit difficult to find some of those special grain mentioned in Singapore stores.

Thoughts That Count

It's really very kind and warmhearted of Christine who actually send me a surprised parcel all the way from Victoir, Australia. I am really so touch and shock to receive this mystery gift from her. Although I only know her for less than 2 months, but she is so caring and sweet that she actually post me something that I love base on what she read from my blog. Thank you so much, Christine. Your little thought means so much to me.


Dear Christine, thanks for your "Super Food Ideas" magazine which enlighten up my week. I missed this magazine very much ever since I came back to Singapore from Australia. Actually I used to order it on line but then the postage is rather expensive so in end I gave up after 1 year of subscription. But..... one of my another friend is collecting this food magazine for me during her stay there.... So I will be able to get the whole year issue during her next year trip back to Singapore. New Books On the Shell

Since today, 09 August 2008 is our Singapore National Day, Popular Bookstore is having a 2 days 20% Storewide Sale.......... these 3 books hence added into my books collection. I had long wish to buy the Cheesecake Recipe from Alex Goh, I had all his collection of books from cake, bread making, chocolate and etc.

Although I am long past the Pregnancy or Post Motherhood stage, I still love all kinds of confinement food. Maybe the reason is I didn't have a proper confinement meal when I gave birth to Reyon :p So I kind of missing all those foods. But then most of you will be wondering... Since I was such a wide collection of cookery books, why the posts in my blog is still moving at such a slow pace. The reason so is because, I love to collect all kinds of cookbooks but then I don't really have time to cook those dish as I am so tie down with all kinds of commitments. But I will still try my best to post those interest recipe that I come across with.

I bought this book especially for my mum :) Not because that she is already at the Old Age but then it's because it had a lot of information on the kinds of food which is suitable for her age. She will have a rough idea of what to eat and what not too. She is very keen in inventing all kids of dishes but then too bad, she is not interest in those cookbook that I own. Because she is more into those easy meals which involve less washing, cutting and less ingredients.

Collection Of My Recipe Books

These are some of the collections of my recipe books and food magazines over the years since I started to be a housewife and develop interests in cooking and baking. There are a wide range of collection from Asian to Western cuisine. I love to collect those recipe books which provide attractive photos and easy to get ingredients before I will consider to purchase it.



My favourite Food Magazines are Super Food Ideas from Australia. I came across this magazine during my stay in Australia in 2000 and ever since, I started to collect almost every issue of it. I even order it online before when I am back in Singapore but then the price and postage is much too high compare to purchase it over there. Other than that, I also love to collect the Food & Travel magazine from local publisher which often published some interesting bakes and meal ideas. I also have a collection of Alex Goh baking series which I find it easy to understand and follow.....

These are some of the Soup recipe books that I have. I love to collect all kinds of Asian Soup recipe books which involves using Chinese Herbs as one of the main ingredients. During my Stay at home period, I love to experience with different kinds of soup for our daily meal and it's really interesting when you gets to study what kind of herbs is good for building up our body immune systems and etc. Other than daily homecook soup, I am also interested in those sweet dessert soup and one of my favourite is Barley, Ginkgo Nut & Bean curd Soup. Sushi!!!! One of Reyon's favourite meal. I guess it's because of it's attractive layout and presentation. So Japanese cookbooks are also one of my favourite collection as I love to see the way they present their food in bento setup. So far, I only did a few of the Japanese Recipes because I am still not very well-verse in handling Japanese Dish. Sushi Tale is one of the Japanese Dish that I did together with Reyon because he simply love to be in the Kitchen with me... Other than all these sample of the cookbooks and tested recipes, actually I am also interested in trying out all kind of cuisines as you can see from my Recipes Index List. I have a wide range of recipes from western, Chinese, Indian, Japanese and etc.... so do drop by and give me your suggestions or feedback.......
